Grip to Outdoor Activities with Scientists

This Sunday, October 5th, at Hudson River Park, Pier 26, had a place outdoor event - SUBMERGE! NYC Marine Science Festival. The whole happening was devoted to bring awareness to NYC’s coastal waterways and focus on ocean science while raising awareness of how people influence our local waterways.
The marine scientists made science fun with robots,
 experiments,
and entertainment, such as life music,
fishing and
kayaking right on Hudson River.
The last part brought us ultimate excitement
Activities at the River Ranger Tent included investigation tables,
touch tanks with live river critters,
 touchable models
and ocean-themed crafts.
Basia was truly interested in tiny plankton which she was able to study through a microscope.
The SUBMERGE! NYC Marine Science Festival included:
  • Research Stations: With the scientists representing local and national groups who presented current research through hands-on demonstrations, interactive experiments and participation in citizen science.
  • Science Lounge: With the scientists presenting key talks and dialogs on interesting topics.
  • River Rangers Exploratorium: An area dedicated to reaching a younger audience.
  • Music, catch and release fishing, river kayaking and more enriching activities for all to enjoy.
  • Seafood CafĂ©: Local, sustainable seafood organizations with both food and engaging discussions about seafood.
